You guessed it. I went to see The Lego Movie over the weekend and words cannot describe how much excited I am about it. It's extremely funny, heartfelt, and all around perfect. I've been a fan of Phil Lord and Chris Miller ever since the first "Cloudy" movie, but they really outdid themselves this time around. All the cast did an amazing job voicing the characters, but Morgan Freeman gets to say the funniest lines. If you have ever held a Lego brick in your hand, do yourself a favour and go see it now.

Much has been also written about the insanely catchy main song, but what I didn't know was, that it was sung by Tegan and Sara and also featuring The Lonely Island. Whatever you think of it, you can't deny it has a certain brainwashing quality. I love it.

Ed Sheeran sees fire

The second Hobbit movie will arive in a month and a few days and the trailers look very promising so far. The big news today is, the title song has just been uveiled. The reactions vary, but personally, I like it. Your thoughts?

Joe Kosinski's first feature film Tron: Legacy was released in 2010. I went to see it in theatre immediately and it blew me away. Even till this day, I immensely enjoy the stunning visuals blended with perfectly fitting score by the French electronic duo Daft Punk, which has gone gold since then, and practically redefined movie music.

While Tron wasn't a huge hit at the box office, it still made enough money to allow Kosinski to direct his dream project and another big budget sci-fi movie, Oblivion, that will star Tom Cruise, Morgan Freeman and Olga Kurylenko, among others. The film hits theatres on April 19 and the trailers look rather fantastic so far, once again promising lectures on design and architecture. I am stoked.

More interestingly, though, Kosinski recruited yet another high profile and well-respected act for work on the film's soundtrack. Just like Daft Punk, M83, fronted by Anthony Gonzales, seems like a logical choice, and an excellent one, too. M83's last album was a huge critical and commercial success, almost topping my AOTY list of 2011 and spawning the hit single Midnight City. I honestly have no doubts this will turn out great.

Just yesterday, Rolling Stone premiered a new song from the soundtrack, called StarWaves, and you can stream it on their website. Seriously, studios and directors need to hire more people like Gonzales to show the way for others and stir the still waters of blockbuster music, largely dominated by Hans Zimmer and his crew of sound-alikes. (I still sort of can't get over the fact, that Jack White backed off from Verbinski's The Lone Ranger and was replaced by, shockingly, Zimmer. With White on board, it might have been my most anticipated movie of the summer.)

Anyway, I expect no small things from the soundtrack. Your thoughts?

Sound City

Sound City is a documentary film directed by Dave Grohl about the history of Los Angeles recording studio Sound City Studios, where he recorded Nevermind back in the day. It will premiere at the Sundance Festival in February.

And now comes the interesting part. The soundtrack will feature eleven new songs from Grohl and an amazing list of collaborators. Check for yourself...

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey soundtrack

In honour of the upcoming release of the most anticipated movie of the year, The Hobbit, which premiers in just four days in New Zealand and two weeks later worldwide, I present to you its soundtrack. Well, in case you missed it... Once again, it's being composed, orchestrated, conducted and produced by Howard Shore.

I have already booked my tickets to the midnight screening. The question is, have you? :)

Skyfall

For me, there hasn't been a single more anticipated movie this year than James Bond's 23rd adventure, directed by one of the most interesting current filmmakers, Sam Mendes. Well, the title song by Adele has been out for a few hours and I'd like to know everyone's opinions on it. Although I don't listen to Adele at all, I like the song very much. It reminds me of Golden Eye a lot... Thoughts?

I just finished watching the movie "Taken" starring Liam Neeson. Great movie, might I add. But in the end credits, this song was playing, and I just had to share it with you. Here's Belgian band Ghinzu's song "The Dragster Wave" put to a video montage from the movie:

The Sigur Rós frontman released his debut solo album last year and also provided a song for the movie How to Train Your Dragon, which I thoroughly enjoy. I also recommend the film's orchestral score from John Powell, which was nominated for an Oscar.

Well, this is interesting. You can stream the soundtrack for the upcoming Zack Snyder's movie in its entirety right here. Among others, it features the Kills' Alison Mosshart, Emiliana Torrini or Emily Browning, an actress playing the movie's main character.

It certainly won't fit everyone but I honestly think that Tron: Legacy is a great movie. The most remarkable thing about it is the combination of dazzling visuals and perfectly fitting music. It's definitely hard to say which of those two elements is dominant here. Daft Punk blended orchestral and electronic music in order to create a unique movie score and delivered one of the most captivating listens in 2010.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is a good, funny movie. It may be a box office disappointment, it may not be the stunner I've been hoping for, but it's worth seeing nonetheless. However, I dare to say it's even better when we figure in the music. The soundtrack features bands like Metric, Broken Social Scene, T. Rex, or The Rolling Stones as well as two fictional bands, most notably Sex Bob-Omb, in which Scott plays bass.

In the movie, the song is sung by Brie Larson, who is playing Scott's ex-girlfriend, leading the band The Clash at Demonhead, and it's the main reason why I'm praising the soundtrack.

Infant Sorrow

To be honest, I never liked neither Russel Brand nor Jonah Hill and I still don't. Therefore, I was quite staggered to find their last movie, Get Him to the Greek, really entertaining. The most surprising fact though, was the unexpected quality of its soundtrack.

The soundtrack is compiled as a CD from the fictional group Infant Sorrow, lead by Brand's character, Aldous Snow. It features songs written by Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother), Jarvis Cocker (Pulp) and Carl Barat (The Libertines) among others and if it wasn't for the pleasantly improper lyrics, I could see them easily getting lots of radio and TV airplay.
