Big Dismal

Remember that brief period in the late '90s and early 2000s where everyone tried to sound like Scott Stapp? Well, the lead singer of this band pulls off a pretty convincing double. Although the musical style doesn't exactly match that of Creed, if you were listening and not really paying attention, you might begin to wonder if it was a long-lost Creed song. Sadly, they only recorded one album before fading into relative obscurity. I thought I'd share a few of my favorite Big Dismal songs in the hopes that you'd also enjoy them. For my first example, here's a kind of power ballad-type song, "Remember (I.O.U)":
Here's one featuring Amy Lee (of Evanescence fame), entitled "Missing You":
This song was my introduction to the band, way back in the early 2000's. Called "Running Through My Mind":
And finally, a song which doesn't even sound like the same band. Kind of a Matchbox Twenty or early Train vibe to it. Titled "Just the Same":
Let me know what you think of this band. I'm a sucker for anything similar to Creed, so I automatically liked them the first time I heard them. Most, if not all, of their songs can be found on YouTube.

The Buzzhorn reunion

Well, I'm very happy to announce that The Buzzhorn are reuniting.

Who are they? A little known band that once had a song on Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 game soundtrack (which also featured The People That We Love by Bush). The song is called Ordinary and even after all those years since a first played the game, it's still one of my all time favourites. It's a shame that their only major label album, Disconnected, didn't get the promotion it deserved, because they could have been a much needed breath of fresh air in the alternative rock scene. Needless to say, The Buzzhorn disbanded shortly after the release...

However, all of a sudden eight years after, they decided to reform. The line up will be "consisting of 2 original members Ryan Mueller – vocals and Todd Joseph – bass. According to their announcement the band will start rehearsing and writing new songs on the 1st of November 2011." [1]

I used to know the lyrics by heart...
