Funeral for a Friend, on of my all time favourite bands and also one of the best current post-hradcore acts, will release a new album on January 28th. Here's a first glimpse at what it may sound like. Honestly, I can't complain.
If you've never heard of Write This Down, I'd recommend checking them out. They are a Christian rock band from Minnesota. Anyway, they just released a song for their next album, entitled "Crash and Burn". Check it out:

Finally, a new song from my beloved band Saosin. Well, it's only a demo but still, better than nothing. Their last album was generally considered a major letdown, the lead singer left, again, and it wasn't quite certain whether the band would carry on. They did, and will hopefully release a new album or an EP later this year. The vocals are provided by Tilian Pearson, formerly of Tides of Man, who appears to have bacome a permanent member of the band.
In case anyone is wondering, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus are still a band. It seemed like no one cared about them anymore after they released the vastly uninteresting Lonely Road in 2008. Don't You Fake It wasn't anything groundbreaking either but it featured a bunch of pretty catchy tracks that didn't allow me to completely forget about them... Well, they've just released a brand new song and so far, it seems like a return to form. Your thoughts?
I've been waiting endlessly for some info about Blindside's upcoming album. It's been ages since they released their last material, The Black Rose EP, in 2007. The trailer for the new album doesn't show much, but the great and most important news is that we can expect it soon. It's set to be released on May 6th.
After last year's full-length debut, All Our Kings Are Dead, Young Guns are on their way to become one of the next great british rock bands. I hope you enjoy their brand new music video below.

Well, I've been listening to quite a few greatest hits compilations lately. A thing, I wasn't used to do before. I tend to have all the records from my favourite artists, and I usually play them as a whole. Therefore, I used to consider best of albums pretty much unnecessary. That has changed. I thought it would be a good idea to sum up those compilations that made a difference to me and ask you, my fellow music lovers, to share yours. :)

Scottish Fiction: Best of 1997 - 2007
Idlewild I have to agree with Pitchfork on this one. Idlewild were built for such Best of compilations. Don't get me wrong, I like all of their albums, but I gotta admit, there are always three or five tracks that really stand out. I've already made my point about this band here, so I won't go any further. If I ever wanted to introduce Idlewild to someone, Scottish Fiction would do the job just fine.

Funeral for a Friend
FFaF released this extensive double disc compilation album just two years ago, so it is still a pretty fresh pick. Along with the band's most famous tracks from all of their albums, it also features four brand new songs. And trust me when I say that they are no fillers. Wrench, being arguably the best of them, also marks a new direction for the band, who have been re-dicovering their heavier side since then. I dare to say this is a must-have album for all their fans.
Finally, a brand new music video from Funeral for a Friend. They've gone a lot heavier since Tales Don't Tell Themselves and that's good. This is a song from their last EP The Young and Defenceless, released in September.
